According to a new report by the United Kingdom’s People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA UK), tea companies PG tips, Lipton and Lyons have been testing their products on animals in some pretty gruesome experiments that are decidedly not “100% natural.”

The report says that rabbits were fed a diet high in fat to increase cholesterol levels to egregiously high levels and to harden their arteries. Then, the companies fed the animals tea in their water, ostensibly to demonstrate that if the levels decreased, they could market their product as having health benefits. Rabbits weren’t the only test subjects; mice were bred with severe bowel inflammation problems, and then fed tea to see if it helped. And piglets were infected with E. Coli, to give them diarrhea, and I suppose the tea companies felt that their product might have an effect on that, too?

In any event, even if tea had helped the artificially, intentionally sickened animals, they were all killed afterwards for their trouble. It doesn’t get less natural than this.

And this might not be all. Other reports have stated that the Lipton brand uses animal products in their teas — like blood. To dye it the right color.

Two University of Guadalajara academic centers (Health Sciences along with Biological and Agricultural Sciences) have been criticized for still receiving live animals from the animal control centers and for sweeping up animals off the street to use them as part of its medical and scientific practices in the areas of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, Odontology and Psychology. Apart from being a clear violation of the Mexican Official Standard (NOM 042 SSA) the practice is ethically wrong. Furthermore, the University of Guadalajara has a Center for Alternative Use of Animal in Education (CAAE) that has not been exploit to the fullest. ?
Dogs to be used for dissection and for practicing surgical procedures are either being captured in the street by trucks owned by the University or are being provided by third parties hired for the same purpose. In some cases, dogs are wearing tagged collars, showing they have owners. Other dogs are taken from the Animal Control Center in the nearby municipality of Tonala, Jalisco. The captured animals suffer from tremendous stress due to the conditions they are put through, even prior the %u201Ceducational%u201D practice. All the animals, including sometimes puppies and pregnant dogs are forced to live in cages, often going for days without any food, shade or water.
It has been through the evidence of photos, videos and the complaints of neighbors and some of the students deeply worried about the situation, the methods or torture and extreme cruelty these animals have to go through, as well as the poor health conditions the practices take place putting at risk the health itself of the students. Their testimonies describe the use of expired anesthetics and drugs that are employed in lower doses than required, before cutting open the animals. The result is that animals aren%u2019t properly sedated and frequently gain consciousness in the middle of the surgery when they have been already cut wide open, suffering from indescribable pain. In many cases their screams and moans are silent by beating them, and those in charge of the practices do not take into consideration the provisions applicable by law. Crying means the same in every language. Let%u2019s help to stop this disgraceful treatment towards animals. Sign the petition to stop these archaic methods of using live animals in educational practices and make a difference. They need our help.

A new documentary by Michael Webber has been getting a lot of attention at film festivals this year. The Elephant in the Living Room brings the issue of privately owned lions and tigers and bears (and reptiles and other wild animals) to the big screen.

In an interview with CityBeat, Webber said exotic pet ownership may be shocking, but it’s not an obscure phenomenon. “I started paying attention and that’s when I realized this was the elephant in the living room. This big, enormous thing that’s going on in our country and no one is really recognizing it.”

Until now.

It’s no coincidence that the Dayton, Ohio, filmmaker aimed the camera at his own state. Ohio has some of the weakest exotic animal laws in the country, a flaw which gained national attention this summer when a bear killed his caretaker. Despite obvious and repeated negligence on the part of the bear’s owner, Sam Mazzola, authorities’ hands were tied because you can pretty much own whatever you want in Ohio. And Mazzola isn’t the only one whose choice of pets has caused problems.

During a birthday party at a Dublin hotel nightclub last Saturday night, the DJ started playing the theme song from the TV show Skippy the Bush Kangaroo. As an apparent practical joke, a terrified wallaby was released from a box onto the dance floor.

In a 74-second video made by a partygoer, the Irish Times reports that the marsupial is roughly lifted about three feet off the ground as loud music plays. Partygoers shout and grab at it while flashes from cameras burst around it. The wallaby can be seen frantically trying to break free. The video ends with a man holding the wallaby to his groin and simulating a sex act.

An official investigation began only after enraged animal welfare advocates saw the video after it was uploaded on Facebook (it has since been removed) and notified police. The BBC reports that the Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA) received five complaints about the incident, only one of which was from a partygoer. There were an estimated 150 to 200 guests at the birthday party for a 30-year-old.

Can’t you see that picture?
Are you proud of your people ?
We aren’t they are discusting murderous evil barbarians!
How can you condone this?
If you were there would you stop the men as they raised their weapons?
How can you let?them bring those?hooks ect?swishing down to rip through those innocent creatures?
Can you not see the evil in their eyes, the enjoyment?
What dont you understand?

It is wrong and everyone knows it!
Shame on your?country!

I would like to say how much distress finding this information and writing it has caused me, and would therefore greatly appreciate it if you could read this and take my plea seriously.

This will be sent to the governments of:
Japan
Faroe Islands
Solomons Islands
And peru

We the undersigned?Want To Stop all drive Hunts!

For all species of Dolphin and Whales.

In Japan,The Solomon Islands, The Faroe Islands.

And we want the law More enforced in Peru.

We are aware that a more humane killing method has been introduced in Japan but this is not good enough!

There is no compromise with life and death!

We want a law where there is no loop holes, we want no Dolphin or whale killed anywhere.

Please read below to see for yourselves why this needs to be stopped, its vicious, if those men are capable of these vicious murderous hunts, then they are murderers just like human murderers! Do you want them walking the streets, i dont want to be on the same planet never mind the same street!

The hunting is done by a select group of fisherman. When a pod of dolphins has been spotted, they are driven into a bay by the fisherman by banging metal rods or stones in the water to scare and confuse the dolphins. When the dolphins are in the bay, it is quickly closed off with nets so that the dolphins can’t escape.?The dolphins are usually not caught and killed immediately, but instead left to calm over night. The following day, the dolphins are caught one by one and killed. Those that have remained too far in the water are dragged onto the beach by driving a steel hook into the blubber of the animal, though they are more often dragged by putting a hook in?their blowhole. When on land, they are killed by cutting down to the major arteries and spinal cord at the neck.?The time it takes for the dolphins to die varies from a few seconds to a few minutes usually, depending on the cut. Though many fisherman stab the dolphins to death with spears in shallow waters. The killing of the animals used to be done by slitting their throats, but the Japanese government banned this method and now dolphins?can only be killed? by driving a metal pin into the neck of the dolphin, which causes them to die within seconds, it is questionable whether this law is being enforced, because many times, since the ban,?have been reported when they where still using the slitting of the throat methods. Also you cannot go to see whether they are abiding by the laws, because it is now common for the final slaughter to take place inside a tent or under a plastic cover, out of sight from the public

DOESN’T THAT TELL YOU IT IS WRONG? THEY EVEN KNOW IT IS WRONG!!
?They are even hiding what they are doing because they even know it is wrong!!

In Peru, even though it is illegal they catch the dolphins, then they are driven together with boats, and encircled with nets, then they are harpooned, dragged to the boat, and then clubbed to death if they are still alive.

DOESN’T THAT TELL YOU IT IS WRONG? OTHER PLACES HAVE BANNED IT!

Different countries kill different species:

In Japan, Striped, Spotted,Rrisso’s and Bottlenose Dolphins are most commonly hunted, but several other species such as the Falsekiller whale are also occasionally caught. A small number of Orcas( Killer Whale)?are murdered too.

Solomon Islands murder Spotted and Spinner Dolphins.

The capture and trade of wild Doplhins is prohibited in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands!

DOESN’T THAT TELL YOU IT WRONG??

On the Faroe Islands mainly Pilot whales are killed by drive hunts. Though officially this is the only species hunted, other species are also slaughtered on rare occasions such as the Northern Bottlenose whale and Atlantic White-sided Dolphins.

Thank you for your time

Stop All Drive Hunts! (Whales and Dolphins)

?Crush videos, among other fetish videos, feature small live animals, such as kittens, puppies, mice and bunnies, being slowly tortured in the most horrific ways imaginable; including being burnt alive, cut with pruning sheers, nailed to the floor, skinned alive, beaten, stabbed, and having their limbs broken.

? All of these videos share a common theme: the animals are incrementally crushed by a woman in high heels. Most people view these materials for sexual gratification, but these videos are becoming increasingly popular just for their shock value alone. The crush fetish can be also linked to paraphernalia, which is an atypical sexual arousal to nonhuman objects and humans alike being caused physical distress.

? Crush videos are becoming increasingly popular across America, and will escalate to epidemic proportions due to the Supreme Courts recent ruling to legalize them.
It’s not hard to find such sites on the Internet with any search engine-keep in mind it’s now perfectly legal to download and watch. Minors can access these materials with a click of a button. If The Supreme Court says,”Okay fine, It’s free speech,” please first examine the damage it causes both human and nonhuman lives, and society as a whole.

? Freedom of speech has its limits when it places a society in danger, such as the ban on child pornography as it leads to violence of children. Films that exploit, torture, and kill animals for entertainment purposes also puts society in danger, for it is destructive by inciting violent and antisocial behavior, thereby endangering our citizens. Adults showing their own children these videos can cause emotional damage and lead to Antisocial Personality Disorders. This is not only considered child abuse, but is one of the leading disorders found in serial killers. While there are many factors that contribute to someone becoming a serial killer, the one constant they share is animal abuse.

? In short, there is nothing socially redeeming about? crush videos and animal torture videos when used for entertainment and financial purposes. However, relating to educational or for political and sociological purposes, this should be the exception? such as speaking against, or educating the public about the realities of dog fighting or other issues and how it affects a society, such as the making of a violent criminal or serial killer.
International Petition: Ban Crush Videos in America

Mercy for Animals, the organization that brought you the undercover footage of sadistic animal abuse at Conklin Dairy Farm, has released their latest investigation. This time, they went undercover to Buckeye Veal Farm in Apple Creek, Ohio.

The fact that veal is cruel cuisine shouldn’t come as a surprise. If, for some reason, you’ve been eating it with no idea what it is, veal is baby cow. The pale color that chefs and gourmands love so much? That comes from deliberately inducing anemia and weakness, which is done by taking the calves from their mothers (a.k.a. dairy cows, like those at Conklin) and shoving them into crates to ensure that they have an unhealthy existence with as little exercise as possible. In other words, it’s flesh from a sick animal.

That’s what Mercy for Animals found at Buckeye Veal Farm, a Costco supplier. In the video (below), narrated by Bob Barker, the veal crates you see are typical.

Let us protect animals from cruelty

With the noise that is the background of our lives, can we no longer hear
a small yelp of pain or a plaintive meow? They are there, you just need to listen. Pledge NOT to look the other way when you see animal abuse, even in your neighbor’s backyard. Report it, then be willing to be cooperative in it’s prosecution. Stop those who find their pleasure in the pain of animals. Support harsher sentences and stiffer fines for animal abusers. Demand that ISP%u2019s be held responsible for the images on their sites. Animal torture should not be considered entertainment and all information should be freely turned over to the police to assist in the arrest of those that engage in it.

We would like to ask all of you to help us, to obtain justice for the dogs that were tortured and killed, by four teenagers in Tepic, Mexico. They showed the world how cruel humans can be to innocent creatures.
They received very light penalties. We would like to ask the Mexican leaders of animal protection to change that. Not only in this case but in all cases of cruelty involving pain toward animals, we would like to see longer punishments, including jail time, and higher fines!

We are sending this petition to the Mexican government. To get these four cruel teens and to ask them not to look the other way when abuse happens again.
Please help us call attention to such a painful subject by adding your voice to ours and signing this petition!

A Stampede of Animal Abuse in Calgary

Yee-haw! Today marks the start of the one of North America’s oldest and largest celebrations of smacking animals around: the Calgary Stampede.

This event, which takes place in Alberta, is expected to draw over one million visitors, including Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper. What are these people flocking to watch? According to Calvary Stampede spokesperson Doug Fraser, 25,000 come to specifically watch calf roping. Calf roping is accurately described by SHowing Animals Respect and Kindness (SHARK) as “the most cowardly rodeo event.” This faux sport consists of macho cowboys roping baby cows that are usually about three or four months old. As the folks at SHARK explain, “the calf is roped so violently she becomes airborne before slamming into the ground. This process can break the calf’s neck, back or legs.”

Other intellectually stimulating highlights include steer wrestling and bronc riding. No word as to whether or not electric prods will be used for the latter event. There’s also chuckwagon racing, which has the dubious honor of being the Stampede’s deadliest event. According to the Vancouver Humane Society, nearly 50 chuckwagon horses have been killed at the Calgary Stampede since 1986, mainly due to crashes and the stress of the 10 day extravaganza.
